Holiday Rentals - Frequently Asked Questions
How do I apply?
Download an application form from our website and fax, post or scan it to us along with a copy of photo ID (drivers lisence, passport or similar). If you are interested in a particular house please note it on the form or let us know what area you would prefer. We will then contact the property owner just to check availability and get back to you asap.
What do I need to bring?
You need to bring with you all linen (sheets, pillowcases, towels etc), and all personal items and food. We do not have a linen hire facility in Whangamata. All other bedding is supplied, all cooking facilities available, washing machines, BBQS etc are available in most places however we cannot guarantee that the bottle will have gas in it, We do ask owners to check their bottles before we rent the property but some forget its the luck of the draw, bottles can be filled in Whangamata at the "Boat Yard". There is a full list of chattels listed on each home listing.
Do I have to clean the house when I leave?
Short answer - yes. We inspect the homes before and after your leave and expect it to be left as you found the property. For a small surcharge we can arrange a cleaner for you when you depart. $25 per hour. Put this on your application form.
What are the Peak Times?
Christmas, New Year, Beach Hop, These are times when there is extremely high demand, so expect to pay a little more than other times of the year with minimum biooking times.
What is the minimum number of nights I can stay?
This varies depending on the time of year. We have a 2 night minimum regardless. Because of the extremely high demand, Christmas/New Year is a 10 night minimum and Beach Hop is a 4 night minimum.
At Christmas and through new year the rates can change. Here is a guide to the periods and minimum booking time times)
Peak Rates : 20th Dec to 8th January (10 night nimimum unless otherwise stated) checkin 1pm checkout 10:30am sharp.
Shoulder Rates : 9th January to 7th February ( 5 night minimum unless otherwise stated) checkin 1pm- check out 2pm
Beach Hop : Event rate (4 night minimum) Checkin 10am - check out 3pm
Off Peak : All other times of the year inc long weekends and easter ( easter 3 night minimum booking) check in 10am - Check out 3pm
Why rent a holiday home and not a motel or B&B?
Mostly at peak times all commercial accommodation in Whangamata and environs is fully booked months in advance. By renting a holiday home, you have the privacy and seclusion just like being in your own home. There are no interuptions by well meaning staff, no one looking at you from the next unit, you can eat when you want, and do what you want (within reason of course) - all in all it just feels like home! and if you are usuing shoulder or off peak periods your check in-out times are great!
