A WHANGAMATA OBSESSION

Whangamata is a thriving coastal town. Gone are the days of septic tanks and bore water. The town is fully reticulated and has every infrustructure you can imagine or that you would expect for a permanent population close to 4000. In the summer the population soars to 10-20,000 and at the annual Beach Hop (held in March) it creeps up to 40,000 for three to four days. Whangamata has its famous surfing "Bar" (the Whangamata bar). Surfers come here from all over the world to surf one of the longest rides in the southern hemisphere. Its all here in a our town on the shores of New Zealand's Coromandel Peninsula.
